Farewell, Mills College
Tonight's submission of my final course grades marks the official conclusion of my teaching duties here in Oakland. Seven years ago, Mills College took a chance on me and ultimately provided me with an incredible opportunity to find my own voice and confidence as a teacher, and for all of that I will be eternally grateful. While I suppose part of having a job is whining about it at times, truth be told, I have very few complaints* about my time in the Chemistry Department and on campus; I have developed nothing but the utmost love and respect for both my colleagues and for my students (past and present), and I truly believe that, as a whole, I have earned the same from them in return. Thank you for everything, Mills, I love you and I will miss you dearly.
* Excluding the photocopier, which will remain my life-long nemesis.
